Receiving the award “Outstanding Woman in Buddhism“, Thailand, 2023.
Nowadays I’m based in Stockholm, Sweden. The city where the dynamic worlds of art, media, and entrepreneurship once was what I left behind. It was everything I had been trained for, wanted and identified with; it was my passion. But the spiritual path, which had quietly accompanied me all my life, grew steadily louder, insisting on my attention.
As my spiritual path evolved, so did my work, especially with the body-mind movement training “CM – Conscious Movement” that I founded, including the creation of my guided meditation album, Jord (Earth)—a journey into our connection with earth, impermanence, and death, set to the evocative cello and piano of Gertrud Stenung. For many, this album has become a quiet companion, offering a sense of grounding, letting go and reflection.

Leaving my home and my career wasn’t about escaping or searching for meaning—it was a response to something undeniable. And the path I entered wasn’t silent or simple; it was nomadic, requiring devotion and endurance beyond what I’d imagined.
My first novice year was spent at Gampo Abbey in Canada, with Venerable Pema Chödrön as our spiritual director, grounding my path in deep study and practice. From there, I journeyed to Palpung Sherabling Monastery, where I took full ordination under His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche.
This was just the initial chapter in a much longer journey—one that would lead me far from the familiar and deeper into something ancient, sacred, and enduring.

Early Years
My spiritual journey began early, when I joined the Stockholm Spiritualistic Association and briefly studied the Bible before encountering Buddhism in my teens. My first sangha was the Zen Buddhist Water Cloud Sangha in a Stockholm suburb, marking the start of a lifelong path in Buddhist practice.
Professionally, I became one of the first TV hosts for Swedish Channel 4 (TV4) in the 90s.

Around the same time, I worked primarily as a choreographer and co-produced stage performances and music videos—one of which earned an MTV Viewer’s Choice award for Best Video of the Year.
I come from a family with deep roots in artistry, leadership, and western tradition, tracing back to the noble Fröjdefeldt’s—a name woven into European nobility’s history. My childhood was grounded in Sweden’s urban landscape but reached beyond its borders already early on, carrying me through different cultures and stories, like a tumbleweed gathering pieces along the way.

My studies in Buddhist philosophy has taken me through the teachings of Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Buddhism, guided by many teachers and deepened through retreats, ceremonies, and pilgrimages.
Over time, these experiences has become the fabric of my being. Through my journeys over sea and land, I connected with many Buddhist Masters and eventually became a lineage holder in the Karma Kagyu tradition.
The Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism traces its origin back to the historical Lord Buddha Shakyamuni.

When my main study commitments in philosophy and meditation were completed I became the assistant shrine keeper at Karma Triyana Dharmachakra, the seat of the Gyalwa Karmapa in upstate New York, USA, and later responded to a request from a Buddhist study group in Malmö, Sweden where I became the resident teacher.
Today, I am the founder of Skydancer World, and the Triyana Meditation System, through which I aim to anchor the sacred in everyday life. Teaching, guiding, and connecting are threads that bind my journey, whether through Buddhist wedding ceremonies, public talks, or my blog. This work, like breath itself, is both gift and practice.
Lama Chimey’s mission as a Buddhist minister and teacher is to weave the sacred back into everyday life.

Lord Yama & This Precious Human Life
There was a moment in my twenties, a strange crossing where death brushed close. A surgical complication pulled me to the other side, leaving me a Delog, one who has traversed, death, remembered the journey to the beyond and returned. The memory of that passage, stark yet ineffable, remains, shaping my teaching and lending an unspoken depth to Journey through the Bones, a guided meditation that holds this essence, and can be found as a live recording here.

Three Years, Three Months & Three Days in Retreat
There was also my time in retreat—three and a half years in seclusion under Kyabje Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche’s watchful guidance in upstate New York. There, in his final retreat, I emerged among the few who completed the training, marking my path as one of resilience, endurance, and depth, and was given the title; Lama.
Yet creativity has never been far; music, poetry, and storytelling have threaded through my journey.

Creative Work
My solo album, Mothers & Strangers, under my monastic name, Chimey Lhatso, was born during a retreat in the Himalayas, and melds R&B and ambient mantras into a personal soundscape.
Writing, too, has its place. My poem Redemption was published by Mother Tongue Ink in the Art Anthology Lunar Calendar We’Moon 2022; The Magical Dark.
By invitation, my conversations with the author Ulrica Norberg brought my reflections on quietude into print in the book Tystnad (Silence), published by Bazar Publications, a Bonnier company.

My combined passions has created a fertile ground for a synthesis of knowledge to develop, out of which I continue to create, explore and manifest diverse art, media, spiritual growth programs, traditional ceremonies and healing tools for others.
Speaker Engagements
In my role as an inspirational speaker, I share stories woven from experience—a blend of spirituality, environmental advocacy, and transformative moments.

The main motto that has become my signature is one that I picked up from a handwritten note by the public washing sink at the saint Amaji’s pink ashram in India:
– “She didn’t know it was impossible so she did it.”
